On Wednesday, the 25th April there will be a demonstration outside the Dáil (Leinster House) at 12.30 pm of an NGO coalition of The Hedge laying Association of Ireland, An Taisce, The Irish Wildlife Trust and the Federation of Irish Beekeepers Associations (FIBKA) and other interested groups to highlight the start of the ban on agricultural burning and hedge cutting.

Excessive use of insecticides and proposed changes to the laws regarding hedge cutting will cause further depletion of our declining bee population, bee expert Philip McCabe has warned.

The FIBKA implore farmers with the following:

Dear Farmers,

We feel your pain, no one likes their stock to go hungry.

Please dont cut or strip burn the hedges. They feed our stock in the Autumn.

Sincerely,

The Beekeepers
